I don't think anyone wakes up one morning and decides they're officially an "open abaya person."
Usually it happens by accident.
You buy one because you like the colour. Then another. Before you know it, most of your wardrobe somehow revolves around them.
At least that's how it seems to happen.
The biggest thing I like about open abayas is how easily they can be styled.
You can wear the same slip dress underneath three different open abayas and suddenly it feels like three completely different outfits.
They're especially nice during warmer weather too. If you're out all day, layering just feels a little more flexible.
Closed abayas are completely different, but in a good way.
They're the pieces I imagine people reach for on busy mornings. No thinking, no matching, no wondering what goes underneath.
You put one on, choose your hijab and you're basically ready to leave.
Sometimes simple really is easier.
Honestly... neither.
Some people love layering and changing their look depending on the day. Others just want one beautiful piece they can throw on without much thought.
Most wardrobes end up having both anyway.
Maybe the better question is... Not which style is better? But which one will you actually wear the most?
If you'll reach for it again and again, you've probably picked the right abaya.
